Follow the records. Understand the chain.
Practical guides to tracing a vape from a product name to the companies and public records behind it.
The method
How a device gets traced back to the company that built it, and how to refuse a link rather than guess at one.
- How do you find out who actually made a vape? The end-to-end method: start from the device, not the brand, and work through certification, customs and registry records in the order that each one can be joined.5 sources · 7 checks · records a dead end
- How do you tell a real vape factory from a trading company?Three record types establish that an entity physically produces something at an address, which is how you refuse a factory link instead of guessing at it.4 sources · 5 checks · records a dead end
- How do you match a Chinese company's many English names to one entity?A shipping document shows an English trading name, a registry holds a Chinese legal name, and nothing links them — except four records that carry both.5 sources · 5 checks · records a dead end
Chinese records
What the mainland registers, licence rosters and court systems actually publish, what they withhold, and what it is lawful to read.
- Which Chinese registries show vape factory ownership? What each mainland and offshore register actually yields on who owns a vape factory, which ones are reachable from outside China, and the ones that have been abolished or closed.7 sources · records a dead end
- What is an STMA production licence, and why does its absence matter?China licenses vape production in four named sub-types, one of which identifies contract manufacturers directly — and the official licensee table could not be confirmed to exist.5 sources · records a dead end
- What is lawful to collect from Chinese public records?Reading published registers from outside China sits inside the safe zone. The boundary is active collection from people, and it has been enforced with named cases.6 sources · records a dead end
Asia-Pacific records
Korea and Japan publish certification and licensing records that name manufacturers. Neither publishes a manifest.
- What does Korea's KC conformity register show about Chinese vape factories? One row carries the Chinese manufacturer, the country of manufacture, the Korean applicant and the model name — free, no login, with CSV export.6 sources · records a dead end
- Which Japanese records name vape importers?Treating nicotine vapes as pharmaceuticals suppresses disclosure rather than forcing it. The tobacco business act is where Japan names companies.6 sources · records a dead end
Trade and customs data
Where shipment-level data exists, where it is suppressed, and how to measure a factory moving country.
- Is vape hardware manufacturing moving out of China?Four named Chinese companies have Southeast Asian plants on the record, and the way to track the shift is the country-of-origin mix on the US import side, not the press releases.6 sources · records a dead end
- Which countries publish shipment-level vape trade data? The US does. Among the Asian jurisdictions checked, none do — and two actively suppress rather than merely omit.6 sources · records a dead end
What these guides will not do
They state what a record says and when it was read. They do not call a company illegitimate, and they do not describe evidence that does not exist: there are no packaging checks here, no hologram or scratch-code verification and no batch-sticker lore, because none of those is a record anybody filed. Where a licence or a registration could not be found, the guide says the search returned no match on the date shown, which is a different statement from a finding about a company.
The data model, the confidence levels and the known gaps are set out on the methodology page. Every guide here is written and reviewed by Traceleaf research and carries its review date.
