Why it matters

Since 2022 Chinese factories need STMA authorisation to produce and export vaping devices legally, so its absence from a factory's record is a specific, checkable gap.

Sources

Every claim on this page about a statute, an agency instrument or a tariff instrument rests on one of these, and each one is a document you can open. Where a claim could not be checked against a source, it was removed rather than hedged.

  1. The instrument behind the licensing requirement, in translation. It covers manufacture for export as well as for the domestic market, which is why an export-only plant is inside its scope.

  2. Law-firm analysis; the adoption date of 11 March 2022 and the effective date of 1 May 2022 are taken from it and from the translation above.
