What is State licence?
A state licence is the authorisation a cannabis business needs from a US state regulator to cultivate, manufacture, distribute or sell within that state.

Why it matters
Licences are issued and published per state, so a brand is never simply 'legal', it is licensed in named states and absent from the lists everywhere else.
